WAVE Women’s Network is a community of professional women based in Scotland. We are a safe, inclusive, and supportive space for connecting, collaborating, and inspiring each other. We value well-being and growth, and we celebrate the successes, diversity, and strength of women.
The idea for the network began after a conversation with my mentor Elaine Lawther about the need for spaces for professional women to connect in Scotland. We thought of the name WAVE Women's Network because just like waves in the ocean, women are forces of nature. We are resilient and adaptable, overcoming obstacles and changing course. We are connected and supportive, creating ripples and currents that affect the whole. We are inspiring and influential, shaping the world with our force and vision.
The Network is led by amazing women:
Elaine Lawther a Principal Lead based in Edinburgh. She is an inspirational servant leader with a background in accounting and a flair for comfy fashion. Elaine is an advocate for those who are disadvantaged in society working towards inclusivity in the NHS workforce. In her spare time you’ll find Elaine playing walking netball or on a football stand supporting junior footballers.
Charlotte Hilliard a Service Support Manager based in Glasgow. She enjoys outdoor adventure sports, and is a feminist with a special interest in maternal health and addressing health inequalities in Glasgow. She has a MA. in Anthropology and a MSc. in Global Health.
Trishsanna Poyah-Rasul a Psychological Therapist based in East Lothian. She is passionate about improving accessibility of mental health services for the most vulnerable and marginalised communities. In her spare time she enjoys wild swimming and yoga.
Kizanne James-McCarthy a Service Improvement Manager in Edinburgh. She is a physician by background with a focus on Global Womens’ Health and rights. She has a passion for reducing health inequalities from a bottom up approach. In her spare time she binges on funny memes and loves travelling, meeting new people and learning about different cultures.

FAQs
is there a fee to join the NETWORK?
There is no fee to join the network. However, there may be a cost to attend networking events based on venue rental and food.
HOW FREQUENTLY DOES THE GROUP MEET?
We believe in genuine connection and think that meeting in person better facilitates this. Therefore, we host quarterly in-person events.
what are the expectations of members?
Members of the network are expected to engage in networking events, being open to meeting new people to build professional connections.
who can I expect to network with?
Professional women from all sectors including but not limited to, health, energy, communication, business, law, etc. Women who form part of the network are in all career stages and each brings valuable insight to the network.
Can I Recommend the network to a friend?
Yes! We welcome new members to the network often. Feel free to share the opportunity with a woman who can benefit from it.
